Expert Wine Storage Unit Architect to Speak at Spring Home & Garden Show

THE WOODLANDS, TX – March 7, 2007 - When offering his seminar on the ins and outs of proper wine storage at the upcoming Spring Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands, Jost Lunstroth wants his audience to know there's more to a wine rack than just making it look good.

He said it is important for a consumer who is in the market to build an in-home wine storage unit to understand the three core components to building a fully functioning piece of equipment - room construction, climate control and racking.

"If these three components are not done correctly, you're going to end up with problems,” said Lunstroth, of Vineyard Wine Cellars.

He said room construction involves perfecting the space's insulation, air barriers and wall coverings. Setting the cellar's climate is key to ensuring the wine is kept at an optimal temperature and means using specialized equipment.

Finally, the wine racks can be designed to the customer's liking with the use of different metals and wood types to personalize the storage unit to its owner's tastes. However, the racks also work in conjunction with climate control and room construction and contribute to the unit's proper usage.

"There are subtleties to the racks that have to be addressed or they won't function correctly,” Lunstroth said.

When designing one of his wine racks, Lunstroth said he likes to input his clients' ideas. "The creative process involves me and the wine collector working together on a design that meets all of their desires,” he said.

It is in this area of design that Lunstroth shines, said Rick Nash, owner of Artisan Studios in Houston. Nash recently collaborated with Lunstroth on a wine cave for a Woodlands resident. The resulting design and storage unit turned out so well, it was honored with a Savvy Magazine design award.

"Jost was very personable and professional, and he was always very responsive to me and to the client,” said Nash. "He was extremely knowledgeable and very concerned that the client would end up with an awesome-looking project that was also functional.”

Lunstroth is set to speak at the Fifth Annual Spring Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands, which takes place Saturday, March 31, 9:00am-7:00pm and Sunday, April 1, 10:00am-6:00pm at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center,1601 Lake Robbins Dr., The Woodlands, Texas, 77380.
