Quillian Recreation Center Opens Summer Camp Enrollment
HOUSTON, March 29, 2007 - The of First Methodist Houston will begin online enrollment to the public on April 10 for its accredited summer camp for children ages five to 14 in the heart of the Westchase business district at 10570 Westpark Drive at the Sam Houston Tollway feeder.
Now with 23 years' experience in summer camp operation, Quillian Recreation Center will offer six two week camp sessions on the premises which include swimming pools, soccer fields, indoor gymnasium, outdoor covered basketball court and a climbing wall. Sessions begin May 29 and run through Aug. 17. An optional extra week is available from Aug. 20-24.
"Many camps must offer field trips busing children all over the city, but Quillian Center is able to offer exercise and specialty camps in fabulous facilities right here," said Tom Gaden, director, who has been involved in Quillian's programs for 23 years.
Among the camps offered are baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, dance, drama, golf, arts and crafts, music, Vacation Bible School, martial arts, science, softball, roller hockey and cheerleading, among others. Programming for the camp sessions begins at 9 a.m. to free swim at 5:30 p.m., but working parents are able to bring children at 7 a.m. and need to pick them up by 6:30 p.m.
The cost of the camp is $250 per session. There is a $55 non-refundable on-line registration fee, per camper, per session. An additional $5 fee will be charged to those not registering on-line. Lunches are available at an additional fee of $4.50/day. Swimming lessons are available at an additional fee.
The camp was accredited six years ago by the American Camp Association and is one of the few camps with ACA accreditation in the area.

Drawing participation from all over the city, First Methodist Houston is a two-campus congregation of about 8,000 diverse members.
