Mary Handley to Share Importance of Attitude in Successful Aging with Houston Residents

HOUSTON, August 26, 2007 - Noted author and humorist Mary Handley will offer Houston seniors some ways to get attitude working for them-rather than against them-as featured speaker at The Plaza at The Buckingham this August 28. The program is scheduled to run from 2PM until 3:30PM in The Plaza's first floor dining room, with admission free to the public.

Handley has been called "the Erma Bombeck" of this century. Her personal mission statement is: "To encourage, inspire, and teach "To encourage, inspire, and teach compassion, respect, and a positive attitude to people of all ages." Audiences come away both entertained and motivated to manage attitude as a tool for good health.

Beyond entertaining with humor, Handley brings research-based insights into the power of a positive outlook in maintaining both emotional and physical well being into our later years. She cites two Yale University Research Studies that concluded that people who scored high on the "Will to Live" Scale tend to be healthier and live longer. She will explain how to move up that scale while addressing such pertinent topics as:

* Depression and Aging
* How to Stay Young
* Why Should I Care?

Handley is a member of the National Speakers Association, NSA of North Texas, Exceptional Women, and Fellowship of Professional Women. The program is part of an ongoing series of monthly educational seminars provided as a public service by The Buckingham, a Houston life care retirement community. Interested parties should RSVP to Caroyln Milner at (713) 979-3777.
