HOUSTON, August 26, 2007 - The Third Annual Furniture Bank Golf Tournament will be held Monday, September 17, 2007, at Weston Lakes Country Club in Fulshear, Texas.

The Furniture Bank, located at 6300 Bowling Green in Houston, has been serving the Houston Community for over 16 years providing many of the basic household items many take for granted to the many families living in poverty, victims of disasters or families in transition. Along with providing furniture and other home furnishings, clients referred to the Furniture Bank are provided with many of life’s “essentials” including pots, pans, blankets and even eating utensils. Over 106 families in the Greater Houston area are served monthly through the Furniture Bank.

The Furniture Bank receives client referrals from many established local charities including the Star of Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Protective Services, Interfaith Ministries, MHMRA of Harris County and many others.

"The Furniture Bank provides a vital service without which many citizens of Houston, many of whom are children, will be sleeping on floors of empty apartments." stated Jodie Hoffer, Chairman of Hoffer Furniture and founding board member of the Furniture Bank.

The Furniture Bank Golf Tournament will get under way with Registration at 11:00 a.m. on September 17 and the day’s events will include a buffet lunch, cocktails, a silent auction, a buffet dinner and an awards and presentations ceremony.
