China’s Oil and Gas Projects: An Update on Offshore Oil & Gas Projects

HOUSTON, April 12, 2007 - In preparation for the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2007, the U.S.Department of Commerce, Commercial Service, Houston, and the International Trade Centerwill co-sponsor a luncheon seminar update on recent developments and new offshore projects in China from a US Embassy (Beijing) Oil and Gas Specialist, Cindy Wang.

Ms. Wang will be arriving in advance of the OTC to update companies on recent activities in this dynamic market. Many of the largest energy demands today are coming from China, and these demands will only increase as China continues to boom. What are the Chinese National Oil Companies (NOCs) planning today and how can US companies be more involved in the near future? Ms. Wang will discuss how procurement opportunities for China canarise and her real-world experience with how trade shows and matchmaking services have helped US companies.

She will also sketch an outline of the goods and services CNOOC and others are expecting to procure from U.S. companies over the next year as well as discuss their overall long-term strategic sourcing plans. Mr. Duaine Priestley, Director of the US Department of Commerce’s Commercial Service Houston office will also give a brief update on the Jinshan chemical facility project outside Shanghai and the City of Houston’s efforts to assist. Ms. Wang will also be available after the program to meet with companies for one-on-one appointments.
