Successful Test of Armor Glass Security Window Film on Seabrook/Galveston Bay Houses
HOUSTON, TX - Sept, 19 2008 - Prior to Hurricane IKE Armor Glass International installed hurricane security window film on two houses in Seabrook, TX located on Galveston Bay.
Photos show that both houses survived IKE with no window damage. The houses on each side of our test houses were destroyed. A photo is on the bottom of the Armor Glass home page at: www.ArmorGlass.com
"Had IKE been a CAT 3 instead of a CAT 2 storm, we would have had more wind-borne debris breakage of windows that leads to structural failure in these storms. IKE should be a wake up call that we need stronger building codes and 24/7 window protection, not outdated plywood. Armor Glass has shown its product provides real security to property owners even on the front line of a hurricane," said Michael Fjetland, President of Armor Glass International, Inc.
"Our security film would also have helped prevent the loss of the windows at the Nassau Bay Hilton and Chase Tower downtown Houston. The Miami-Dade certified film (test speed: 160 mph+) is secured to the window and the frame with a special DOW 995 caulking that is the strongest attachment system available," said Fjetland. "We used it on the University of Houston General Services building which had no problems during IKE."
Armor Glass window film was also tested on a Seabrook apartment at Pirates Landing overlooking the hard hit north shore of Clear Lake. It also passed the test.
