Houston, Texas, March 12, 2004. HoustonBusiness.com announced today that it has signed a sponsorship deal with the Houston Stealth, the Houston franchise of the National Women’s Basketball League. The Houston Stealth team is owned by Roy Marsh, co-founder of Houston-based Everyone’s Internet, one of the top 25 fastest-growing Internet service providers in the nation.
Coached by John Chancellor, son of the Houston Comets’ head coach Van Chancellor, the Stealth are the reigning two-time champions of the NWBL. Not only do the Houston Comets of the National Women’s Basketball Association and the Houston Stealth of the NWBL share the same coaching name, they also share some of the same players: Cynthia Cooper, Tina Thompson, Tiffani Johnson, Octavia Blue, and Tammy Jackson have played for both teams. With a total of 27 WNBA players in the NWBL, the level of competition and play is on par with that of the WNBA.
As part of its sponsorship, HoustonBusiness.com will promote the Houston Stealth on its website, in its newsletter, and from time to time on the Houston Business Show, a radio program sponsored by HoustonBusiness.com that airs on Sundays at noon on Business Radio 650.
The Stealth will market HoustonBusiness.com in the Stealth’s home game programs, promotional materials and at the Houston Stealth home games, which are played at Rice University’s Autrey Court.
