Q & A About Private Investigation

Bill Pellerin is President of Texas Investigative Network, Inc., a licensed Private Investigations firm serving Corporations, Law Firms and Insurance Companies throughout the United States. Question - What type of Credentials, Background, Training, etc...must one have to work in the field of Private Investigations?
Answer - The state of Texas requires an individual have a minimum of 3 years experience in law enforcement (local, state or federal) or, a minimum of 3 years of full-time employment with a licensed Private Investigations company in order to take the test required to obtain a Company License (allows an individual to own and operate their own agency). In Texas, it is also legal; however, for an individual to hire on with a Private Investigations company with out any experience in the industry (successful completion of a Level 1 entry exam, and a State and Federal Criminal Background Investigation are required). Of the 2 college degrees I was fortunate to achieve, my second degree is a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I am also fortunate to have 20 years of full-time employment in the investigations industry in Texas.
Once an individual registration or a company license is achieved, 16 hours of continuing education (every 2 years) and proof of professional liability insurance is required in order to maintain a current registration/license with the Texas Private Security Bureau.
