Q & A About Private Investigation By Bill Pellerin
Bill Pellerin is President of Texas Investigative Network, Inc., a licensed Private Investigations firm serving Corporations, Law Firms and Insurance Companies throughout the United States. The firm, founded in 1994, specializes in obtaining hard to find private and publicly held information, and is frequently engaged to perform mobile surveillance in issues concerning employee activity and liability/workers compensation claims. Bill can be reached at (713) 807-8811 or bpellerin@texasinvestigators.com. For more information about Bill Pellerin, check out his bio
Question - What type of Credentials, Background, Training, etc...must one have to work in the field of Private Investigations?
Answer - The state of Texas requires an individual have a minimum of 3 years experience in law enforcement (local, state or federal) or, a minimum of 3 years of full-time employment with a licensed Private Investigations company in order to take the test required to obtain a Company License (allows an individual to own and operate their own agency). In Texas, it is also legal; however, for an individual to hire on with a Private Investigations company with out any experience in the industry (successful completion of a Level 1 entry exam, and a State and Federal Criminal Background Investigation are required). Of the 2 college degrees I was fortunate to achieve, my second degree is a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I am also fortunate to have 20 years of full-time employment in the investigations industry in Texas.
Once an individual registration or a company license is achieved, 16 hours of continuing education (every 2 years) and proof of professional liability insurance is required in order to maintain a current registration/license with the Texas Private Security Bureau.
