New Bank of Houston Branch to Open in River Oaks
By Jim Stein

Mr. Stein, President and CEO of Bank of Houston, is a frequent guest and co-host of the Houston Business Show. His extensive knowledge and experience has helped him to serve in senior bank officer positions and on the Board of Directors of Columbus State Bank, Central Texas Bankshare Holdings, Inc., Texas Bankers Association, Momentum Capital Corporation, and Bank of Houston.

For more information on Bank of Houston and Mr. Stein, please visit their website at www.bankhouston.com.

Bank of Houston is growing at an exponential rate and with that growth comes expansion.  We are proud to announce that we will soon be opening the second branch of Bank of Houston in 3900 Essex Lane, Houston, Texas 77027.  The new branch will be located in River Oaks at the corner of Weslayan Street and Essex Lane on the first floor of the old Baker Hughes building.  A temporary space on the second floor in 3900 Essex will house the new office until remodeling on our first floor space is completed.  Thanks to the help of Mr. Clay Hoster and Mr. Dennis Watson, we have found qualified and experienced bankers to house our new space.  Both have had over 30 years banking in Houston and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Bank of Houston.  Mr. Hoster is joining Bank of Houston as Vice Chairman of the Board.  He attended the University of Houston and graduated with a BBA in Finance in 1973.  Mr. Hoster has been in banking in Houston ever since including most recently serving as CEO River Oaks with Republic National Bank.  Mr. Watson, the CEO of the Bank of Houston River Oaks Office, also earned a BBA in Finance from the University of Houston.  Mr. Watson’s banking career has lead him to hold senior officer positions at Med Center Bank, Texas Commerce Bank (currently JPMorgan Chase Bank), and Republic National Bank.  Joining the Bank of Houston team with them is Arthur Rios, SVP; Patrick Blossom, AVP; Punam Singh, Sara Silva, Emily Porterfield, Maribel Curtiss, and Barbara Kamburis.  As of right now, Mr. Hoster, Mr. Watson, and their team are working out of the Tanglewood Office at 750 Bering Drive.  We are very pleased to have all of them at Bank of Houston to even better serve our customers.

Additionally, Bank of Houston is proud to announce the recent addition of Mr. R. John McWhorter, EVP-CFO and Ms. Sheryl Barringer, VP-Loan Operations to the team.  Mr. McWhorter is joining Bank of Houston as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. McWhorter brings over eighteen years of banking, bank auditing and public accounting experience to the bank.  He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Accounting in 1987 and became a certified public accountant.  He was most recently EVP and CFO at Republic National Bank.  Prior to Republic, he was Senior Vice President and Controller of Amegy Bank, where he was employed for more than thirteen years as it grew from $66 million in assets to more than $5 billion.  Ms. Barringer is joining Bank of Houston as Vice President - Loan Operations.  She has lived in Houston all of her life and currently resides in Pearland.  Ms. Barringer started her banking career when she was in high school and continued through college.  After experiencing different areas, she eventually found her niche in the Note Department.  Ms. Barringer worked for Post Oak Bank for thirteen years, Bank of Tanglewood for its entire seven year existence, and the new Post Oak Bank for a little over two years.  We welcome Mr. McWhorter, Ms. Sheryl Barringer, and the River Oaks office to our growing team.
